- It is never an adding, it is always a subtracting!
In calm, in silence, in the breath you can subtract! The solution to the question “who am I?” is therefore not found in the mind, nor is it reached by means of the mind, since the true answer is the experience of the absence of mind. All activities that presuppose only concentration of the mind are not practices that can lead to true and deep Self-Consciousness.
That is, if a process is purely intellectual, one reaches only the limit that the intellect allows one to reach.
- It is not with the mind that one Is, but with the Heart and with one’s own Soul.
When the mind enters into coherence with the Heart and with all the other sensory organs, forms disappear and the I-Personality disappears too, and the Self shines eternally. Thus everything will appear divine (as Albert Einstein used to say, “to regard everything in our existence as a miracle!”)
Truth cannot be pointed to directly: to say “I am not this” there must be an “I.” But this “I” is only the Ego or “I-thought,” that is, the root-thought: if the root is torn out, all the others will be uprooted at the same time. It is therefore essential to carry out a disidentification from this “I-thought.” As said before, “it is never I!”. The “I” is a need of the mind, a structure in turn made of superstructures which, up to a certain point, we need in order to differentiate ourselves from others, to defend ourselves and to survive but which is destined to fade away sooner or later, when the Self emerges free.
- So: where does the “I-thought” arise – the source of all other thoughts – given that it is not the true Self, since the true Self Is the “I Am” that Is infinite?
It – the true Self – is perfection, is eternal, has no origin or end. It is the false Self that has been built in our mind and is destined to dissolve. So let us not focus on the “I-thought,” let us not emphasize it, let us not exalt it!
We know that the “I-thought” is not pure: it is contaminated by its association with the body – which is our garment – and with the senses – which are ephemeral because they are tied to our duality and to the momentary experience that, in this garment, we still need to have.
- Calm is the only requirement for the realization of the Self with the ONE – or Higher Consciousness –
The human mind is always a vicious circle: it wants a given theory to satisfy itself. In truth, no theory is necessary for those who wish – in their own Soul – to realize their True Being.
- Let us always remember that “the mind lies shamelessly.”
It is the mind that considers the body – and its senses – as the Self, and from this derive all the false beliefs that give rise to the Ego. Man, in truth, is always within the Self, deep within, and nothing else! He is made of the same ultimate “substance” of which the Universe is made, that is, Informed Energy! But the false beliefs, the misleading and limiting programs instilled in us through the dogmas, the teachings and the education of a society not yet awakened to what the path of life in matter really is, have caused us, for protection as well as to compensate for our shortcomings, to remove a great quantity of emotions and feelings that cause suffering, impossible for us to manage, and we have relegated them to the most unreachable depths within us, and from there they push in every way to be seen and heard.
- The Self does not move: it is the world that moves within it. The Self Is always present, there is nothing without It.
All doubts arise because of the wrong way of perceiving Existence and the consequent expectation of things external to oneself.
“To follow the Path means to face everything that lies buried in the unconscious. Every inhibition, every fear, phobia or passion surfaces when the Path is walked. This is why, in all esoteric teachings, great emphasis is placed on the ability to discipline oneself. Make sure you know how to control yourself, so as to be able to face the Guardian in the best possible way the moment it emerges.”

Certainly a path of knowledge of these parts of ourselves that we have removed and hidden deep within ourselves will be necessary before we can proceed to a complete and total disidentification, and this can happen only through confrontation with a master who will consciously act as our mirror. It is truly painful to contact the origin of one’s own suffering; indeed, many prefer not to see their own personal and psychological roots. If we fear our personal world and the pain that dwells within it so much, it is because we do not know how to use it to open our Heart and for our evolution.
Only after having contacted our psychic, emotional and therefore also physical pain, and having integrated it into our consciousness, should the awareness to be awakened in us be that “there is no individual ‘I’ that acts or desires, only the Self exists and there is nothing separate from the Self capable of acting independently! The purpose is always to isolate the “I” Thought and manage to understand what it is really made of.
When finally all the externalizing tendencies of the mind have been dissolved in the repeated experiences of Being, which provide us with information about our subjections, our unconscious programs, our Fears instilled in us since birth, the religious dogmas that mislead us from Truth, we will notice that the “I” thought will have been totally depowered and integrated into Unitary Consciousness so completely that it will never arise again!
This final fusion of the I into the Self (disinvestment and integration) happens only if it is not done with the expectation of receiving a reward, with the desire for Grace or for so-called “Enlightenment” or Self-Realization.
- Any expectation is harmful to our Awakening and to our Happiness!
Complete surrender requires that, even if you have a desire of your own, in connection with the Higher Consciousness, accepting whatever God/the ONE/the Source/THE ALL provides you is to be considered the best possible solution. This is not a “Catholic God of subordination” but rather a “God of collaboration,” since you are a channel of His Omnipotence and, as His child, you can ask for His help and entrust yourself completely to Him/Her.
- God never abandons those who have abandoned themselves to Him/Her!
But as long as the sense of being the one who acts is retained, there will be a continuous desire to change what is. This is slavery: your personality, your individuality and the illusion that it is you who bring things to completion, which should be exactly as you wish.
- Mental agitation is the cause of the desire for the sense of being the one who acts, and of the personality.
A constant meditative work through which conscious attention is regularly exercised – Dharana – is fundamental to nourish the psychic qualities that allow for true meditative work. Dharana – which literally means to hold or to possess – is achieved when one is able to focus exclusively on something within the space of consciousness – it leads to Dhyana, actual Meditation, the key factor that develops all the psychic qualities and keeps them in mutual balance so that the Awakening of Consciousness can be reached.
Any type of technique capable of generating a state of calm, clarity and openness will lead to a direct understanding of spiritual and fundamental truths. Our intimate nature is always available to our observation, if we learn to sharpen our sight.
This will lead to a trust in the Transcendent, and ultimately, in our truest and most intimate part, which we have crushed through and because of our unawareness.
- Everything depends on knowing how to collaborate with this Divine Essence that pervades us, but the unawakened human being has no awareness of how to interact with It.
God – Omnipotent and Omnipresent Super-conscious Life Energy, Tending toward Life and continuous Evolution, Supreme Cosmic Creative Consciousness – knows what is best, when and how! It is enough to surrender: it is like the surrender of Buddhists. It is to entrust oneself completely to the “Deep Original Essence” that sustains us. Do not delude yourself into imagining that this Source is a “God outside of you.” Your Source is within yourself: you are ONE with the whole Universe; therefore, also with God, who is the Essence of the Universe, the Life Consciousness that sustains everything.
