Centered Hatha Yoga Method by Dona Holleman

The method arose from Dona’s experience with the teaching of master B.K.S. Iyengar, and was refined by her over 60 years of study, practice and teaching in the world of yoga.
It builds a bridge from the ancient world of tradition toward the future, with an evolutionary outlook.
It is based on Eight Vital Principles of Practice:1. The meditative state of the mind
2. Relaxation
3. Intent
4. Grounding
5. Centering
6. Alignment
7. Breathing
8. LengtheningThe eight principles apply simultaneously, like white light that breaks apart into a rainbow.
At the center of the system is care and respect for the body and for the natural anatomical laws that govern it.
It is a gradual practice, suitable for all levels, that leads to postural rebalancing, the release of blocks in the physical body and the subtle body, the transformation of body and psyche, and the restoration of energetic balance and the flow of vital force, or “prana”.
“Centered Yoga is an attitude of the human being, as an element of Nature and an expression of the Vital Force flowing within it.”

Therapeutic Massage

The benefits of Therapeutic Massage are:

  • Analgesic effect, elimination and reduction of pain
  • Relaxation of the muscles, myofascial tension and release of contractures.
  • Improvement of adhesions and increased tissue flexibility
  • Improved circulation, elimination of toxins
  • Improved psychological wellbeing
  • Reduced stress
  • Improved breathing

After assessing the client’s situation and needs, it is possible, if desired, to combine the different techniques and apply them according to personal requirements, for the fastest and most effective resolution of the issue and achievement of a state of wellbeing.

I can practice:

  • Classic Swedish Massage: a relaxing full-body massage that stimulates and reactivates circulation, releases muscle tension and revitalizes tissues; it is performed with natural neutral oil, to flow through kneading and release movements;
  • Decontracting Massage: derived from Namikoshi Shiatsu acupressure, following points along the body’s energy meridians, restoring balance to the body’s system and releasing deep blocks;
  • Lymphatic Drainage Massage: a treatment in which the mechanical action applied to the tissues aims to promote proper lymphatic circulation and thus restore the person’s wellbeing. The main effects of the draining massage are:
    • Anti-edema: reduces and eliminates edemas (fluid buildup in the interstitial spaces of tissues or intercellular spaces) ;
    • Immunizing: helps strengthen the immune system ;
    • Relaxing: helps relax the muscles, allowing proper circulation.
  • Connective Tissue Massage: a treatment that works on the deep connective tissue, performed without oil, with intense manoeuvres carried out with the fingers; it can work on various disorders, from releasing deep contractures, to scar treatment, to reducing the imperfections of chronic cellulite, but above all it is a treatment that works on “reflex” skin zones of nerve levels corresponding to deep areas of internal organs, therefore through specific dermatome maps, that is the skin-nerve correspondences linked to the viscera, it is possible to work on reactivating, toning and rebalancing areas even distant from the point of application, which are not directly reachable, achieving benefits and restoring their organic functionality.
  • Sports Massage: a form of bodywork aimed at participants in sports activity, to maximize athletic performance; it helps prevent injuries, prepares the body for activity and helps athletes recover from heavy training and injuries; it is performed locally on the muscle, focusing on injury prevention or the reduction of muscle tension and fatigue caused by sport.
  • Somato-Myofascial Taping: a bandaging method that uses an elastic, breathable, pure-cotton adhesive tape to maintain the effects achieved by the treatment; it can be applied in the acute, rehabilitative or chronic phase, and helps the body regain “homeostasis”, speeding up the healing process and producing immediate and long-term effects.

Francesca Mancinelli

Francesca, born in 1976, discovered yoga in 2002. Her first training was as a restorer of works of art. In 2007 she discovered Yoga in the method of B.K.S. Iyengar, and after 11 years of personal practice she trained as a teacher at the Dona Holleman Centered Yoga school in Rome with Patrizia Gregori. She earned diplomas as a CONI-ASI postural gymnastics instructor and as a Pregnancy Yoga instructor. Since 2019 she has taught Hatha Yoga, and in the same year became a facilitator of Family and Systemic Constellations at the IPSE institute with Dr. Silvia Vannozzi. Since 2022 she has been enrolled in the five-year program at the EDUCAM School of Osteopathy in Rome, and in 2023 she specialized at the same school in Therapeutic Massage, in order to begin working by applying her manual aptitude and sensitivity, developed during her earlier work restoring works of art. Her training path moves toward the principle of integration between Western medical science, Eastern holistic knowledge and the most modern therapeutic applications on the subtle bodies and genetic memories. She continues her personal study of meditative techniques and energetic practices, which she incorporates into her work.
