Film club at Spazio Il Sole

Screening of films on spiritual themes and inner reflection, followed by sharing and convivial time together.

We will begin with “The Fountain” (L’Albero della Vita), a 2006 film directed by Darren Aronofsky, starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz.

Synopsis. The film tells the story of Tomas Creo, a doctor trying to find a cure for his gravely ill wife. His search leads him to travel through time, chasing the mirage of the Tree of Life, which is linked to eternal life. The plot unfolds across three different eras: the sixteenth century, the present day and the twenty-sixth century, where Tom Creo, a conquistador, a scientist and an astronaut, faces the challenges of mortality and the quest for immortality. It all takes place in the shadow of the Tree of Life, the mythical plant set against the Tree of Knowledge, told of in Western and Maya religious traditions, which represents at the same time both victory and surrender in the face of death. Above them hangs Xibalba, a dying star and the realm of the dead, where life reaches its lowest point and immediately afterwards its highest, in continuous regeneration.
